Setting up Windows ME 

 

Windows Me Internet Connection Wizard 5.5

This document is directed at customers using Windows Me and it's Internet Connection Wizard. The Internet Connection Wizard creates a connection to Coop Resources. What you see on your screen may be slightly different and/or in a different order than what the instructions indicate. Please feel free to look ahead and choose what you believe is the most logical setting at each setup screen. If you should make a mistake, use the Connection Wizard's "Back" button to go navigate back one or more steps.

1. Starting the Internet Connection Wizard

  • Click on "Start."
  • Click on "Settings."
  • Click on "Control Panel."
  • Double-click on "Internet Options."
  • Click on the "Connection" tab.
  • Click on "Setup..."
2. Welcome to the Internet Connection Wizard
  • Select the 3rd option.
  • Click on "Next."

3. Setting up your Internet connection
  • Select "I connect through a phone line and a modem."
  • Click on "Next."

4. Step 1 of 3: Internet account connection information
  • Type in your area code in the "Area code" field.
  • Type in the dial-up number that you were assigned by Coop Resources in the "Telephone number:" field. Click here for a list of Coop Resources dial-up numbers. This will open a new web browser.
  • Uncheck the box "Dial using the area code and country code."
  • Click on "Advanced..."

5. Advanced Connection Properties - Connection
  • Select "PPP (Point to Point Protocol)" under "Connection Type."
  • Select "None" under "Logon procedure."
  • Click on the "Addresses" tab.

6. Advanced Connection Properties - Addresses
  • Select "Internet service provider automatically provides one" beneath "IP address."
  • Select "My ISP automatically provides a Domain Name Server (DNS) address".
    • If you have problems with retrieving web pages or retrieving e-mail, follow these steps. Otherwise, click on "OK" followed by "Next" on the following screen.
      • Select "Always use the following:" beneath "DNS server address."
      • Type 208.210.86.2 in the "Primary DNS server:"
      • Type 208.210.86.3  in the "Alternate DNS server:"
  • Click on "OK."
  • Click on "Next" on the following screen."

7. Step 2 of 3: Internet account logon information
  • Type in your username in all lower case letters in the "User name:" field. Remember to include the -0005 suffix after your login name.
  • Type in your password in the appropriate case in the "Password:" field.
  • Click on "Next."

8. Step 3 of 3: Configuring your computer
  • Type Coop Resources2 in the "Connection name:" field.
  • Click on "Next."

 

9. Completing the Internet Connection Wizard
  • Make sure that you are not using the phone line that your computer is hooked up to and click on "Finish."
To connect to Coop Resources regularly, do the following:
  • Double-click on "Internet Explorer" or "Outlook Express" located on your desktop to visit the World Wide Web or send and receive e-mail, respectively.
  • You should be prompted for a screen to connect to Coop Resources. Click on "Connect" to establish your connection to Coop Resources.
